March 13, 2012 Matadors Receive At-Large Berth to WNIT, Face San Diego Friday The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team received an at-large berth to the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) and will play at the University of San Diego on Friday, March 16. At 17-13 overall, including an 11-5 second-place finish in the Big West Conference, the Matadors will participate in the postseason for just the second time in the program's Division I history.
March 6, 2012 CSUN Falls 57-52 to Long Beach State in Big West Quarterfinals The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (17-13) lost 57-52 to Long Beach State Tuesday night in a Big West Tournament Quarterfinal at The Matadome. Jasmine Erving had 13 points and 11 rebounds, her 13th double-double of the season, but the Matadors could not hang on to the lead against several big runs from the 49ers.

March 5, 2012 CSUN Women's Hoops Collects Multiple All-Big West Honors The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team collected multiple 2011-12 All-Big West awards as voted upon by the league’s coaches, the conference office announced Monday. CSUN collected three individual awards as Janae Sharpe was named Freshman of the Year. Violet Alama was named Co-Sixth Woman of the Year and Jason Flowers was named Coach of the Year. Senior Jasmine Erving earned All-Big West First Team honors, Sharpe was named to the Second Team and Ashlee Guay and Alama received Honorable mention accolades.
March 3, 2012 Matadors Down Titans 60-51 on Senior Day The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (17-12, 11-5 Big West) defeated Cal State Fullerton 60-51 Saturday afternoon in both team’s Big West Conference regular season finale. Janae Sharpe scored a game-high 19 points and Jasmine Erving added 12 points and nine rebounds as the Matadors ended up second in the league standings.

In wins at UC Riverside and UC Irvine, Erving averaged 29 points and 10 rebounds, including a career-high 36 points in Northridge's victory over the Anteaters.

December 7, 2011 Balanced Offense Carries CSUN to 85-55 Victory over San Jose State The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (5-4) defeated San Jose State 85-55 Wednesday evening in a non-conference game at The Matadome. Jasmine Erving, Kaitlyn Petersen and Violet Alama all scored 14 points as Northridge rolled to its largest victory in over 11 years.
December 6, 2011 CSUN Hosts San Jose State, Fresno State in Non-Conference Contests The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team (4-4) returns home for a pair of non-conference games at The Matadome. December 3, 2011 Matadors Fall at Pepperdine 68-64 Turnovers and fouls spelled the difference in a tightly contested game as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (4-4) dropped a 68-64 decision to the Pepperdine Waves (5-3) on Saturday afternoon at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu. Senior Jasmine Erving led all scorers with 27 points (13-for-24) to pass Patricia De La Riva and move into fourth place all-time at Northridge for career field goals made (487).

Freshmen Ashlee Guay and Janae Sharpe each had 13 points for the Matadors, who could not overcome a slow start in suffering their first home loss of the season.

November 26, 2011 Northridge Outlasts West Virginia to Claim Thanksgiving Classic Championship Sophomore Kaitlyn Petersen led the Matadors in scoring with 17 points, including a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line, as Cal State Northridge (4-2) defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers (3-2) 48-47 in the championship game of the Holiday Inn Woodland Hills Thanksgiving Basketball Classic 2011. The victory for the Matadors is the first over a Big East program in school history.
November 25, 2011 Northridge Advances to Championship with 71-60 Win over Colgate The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (3-2) defeated Colgate 71-60 Friday evening at the Woodland Hills Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Basketball Classic. Senior Jasmine Erving led four Matadors in double-figures with 18 points as Northridge advanced to the tournament's championship game against West Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 26.

Camille Mahlknecht led the Matadors with 14 points, but the Matadors could not stop the Beavers early in the second half as they lost their first game of the season.

October 10, 2011 Pair of Matadors Earn Preseason Accolades Senior Jasmine Erving and freshman Janae Sharpe received preseason All-Big West honors from the website College Sports Madness. Erving, who has earned All-Big West Second Team honors the past two seasons, was named to the Preseason First Team while Sharpe, a 5-7 combo guard from Rialto, Calif., was named the league's Preseason Freshman of the Year.
October 6, 2011 Matador Women's Hoops to Host Free Youth Clinic on Oct. 29 The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball program will host a free youth clinic on October 29 from 9 a.m. to noon, Matador head coach Jason Flowers announced. The clinic, which is open to both girls and boys ages 6 to 13, will be held before the Matadors’ exhibition contest against The Master’s College at 7 p.m.
