May 5, 2012 Matadors Clinch Series, Move to .500 in Big West with 7-3 Win at UC Riverside Freshman Jerry Keel pitched eight strong innings and struck out a career-high six batters as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (20-22, 7-7 Big West) defeated the UC Riverside Highlanders (15-26, 4-10 Big West) 7-3 to clinch the series at the Riverside Sports Complex on Saturday night.
May 4, 2012 Barry Homers, Matadors Outlast UC Riverside in Extra Innings Adam Barry hit a three-run home run in the first inning and Cal Vogelsang drove in Ryan Raslowsky in the 10th as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (19-22, 6-7 Big West) defeated the UC Riverside Highlanders (15-25, 4-9 Big West) 8-7 on Friday night at the Riverside Sports Complex.
May 3, 2012 Matadors Open Second Half of Big West Season at UC Riverside The Cal State Northridge Matadors will open up the second half of conference play this week with a three-game road series at UC Riverside. The Matadors and Highlanders are separated by just one game in the Big West standings at the halfway mark and Northridge will look to continue to climb the ladder with a series win at UCR. With 13 games remaining on the schedule, including 12 conference games, the Matadors need two wins to surpass last year’s conference total and six to improve on the overall record from 2011.
April 29, 2012 Matadors Drop Series Finale to Long Beach State 12-3 After tying the game in the bottom of the first inning, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (18-22, 5-7 Big West) had trouble keeping the Long Beach State Dirtbags (21-20, 11-4 Big West) off of the board in a 12-3 loss on Sunday afternoon at Matador Field. Four different Matadors had two hits in the game as the team recorded 10, but the Dirtbags used a five-run fifth inning to break the game open.
April 28, 2012 Matadors Rally Twice, Defeat LBSU 6-5 in 12 Innings Twice trailing by a run in their final at-bats, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (18-21, 5-6 Big West) were able to keep the game going, eventually scoring the winning run in the 12th inning to knock off the Long Beach State Dirtbags (20-20, 10-4 Big West) 6-5 on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. The Matadors scored a run in the ninth and two in the 12th to even the series with the Dirtbags heading into Sunday's finale.
April 27, 2012 Matadors Drop Opener 8-2 to Long Beach State The opportunities came few and far between for the Matadors, as Cal State Northridge (17-21, 4-5 Big West) fell to the Long Beach State Dirtbags (20-19, 10-3 Big West) 8-2 in the first game of a three-game series on Friday afternoon at Matador Field. After trailing 2-0 early, the Matadors were able to tie the game in the middle innings before a late charge by Long Beach State sealed the game.
April 26, 2012 Northridge Welcomes Conference-Leading Long Beach State This Week The Cal State Northridge Matadors return to Big West Conference play this weekend at Matador Field and face a crucial test against the Long Beach State 49ers. The Matadors have a chance to shake up the conference standings as Long Beach State sits in a tie for first with the Cal State Fullerton Titans, who have a bye week. After the weekend series against the 49ers, the Matadors will have four series remaining, all against teams that are currently behind them in the standings. Northridge needs three victories to surpass its 2011 Big West record and seven more to have a better overall record. All three games against the 49ers will feature an Internet-only radio broadcast and will have links for audio and live stats available on GoMatadors.com. The three home runs in a game set a new season high for Northridge.
April 20, 2012 Northridge Hosts CSU Bakersfield on BigWest.TV in Lone Game This Week With 17 games left on the regular season schedule, the Cal State Northridge Matadors have reached their bye week in Big West Conference play. Northridge will take the weekend off from action before returning to Matador Field on Tuesday, Apr. 24 at 3 p.m. against the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners. The game will be the second of three scheduled between the two programs this year, and is a rematch of Northridge’s 4-3 victory on April 10. The game will feature live stats and radio coverage available on GoMatadors.com and will also be broadcast on BigWest.TV. April 19, 2012 Matadors Announce 2012 Summer Baseball Camps The Cal State Northridge baseball program will conduct a series of camps this summer, the coaching staff announced Thursday. The camps are open to all players in grades 1-8 and will be run by the current Matador Baseball staff and players.
April 17, 2012 Matadors Suffer 12-4 Defeat at No. 11 UCLA Despite leading 3-2 in the early innings, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (16-20) could not withstand a late offensive charge by the No. 11 UCLA Bruins (25-8), falling 12-4 on Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Bruins scored seven runs in the seventh inning to hand Northridge just its second loss in its last six contests.
April 15, 2012 Matadors Clinch Series with 6-3 Win Over No. 27 Cal Poly A four-run second inning capped off by a two-run home run for Kyle Attl provided all of the offense Cal State Northridge needed as the Matadors (16-19, 4-5 Big West) defeated the No. 27 Cal Poly Mustangs (21-13, 5-4) 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at Matador Field. With the win, Northridge earned its first Big West Conference series victory of the season and moved into a tie for fourth place in the standings.
April 14, 2012 Matadors Split Doubleheader Against No. 27 Cal Poly Ryan Raslowsky had three hits and two RBIs, including the game winner in the bottom of the 11th inning, as the Cal State Northridge Matadors won the first game of a doubleheader against the Cal Poly Mustangs 6-5 on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. The Mustangs responded with a 6-1 victory in the second game to split the series heading into Sunday's finale.
April 13, 2012 Friday Game Vs. Cal Poly Postponed, Doubleheader Set for Saturday at Noon Friday afternoon’s Big West Conference baseball game between the Cal State Northridge Matadors and the Cal Poly Mustangs has been postponed due to inclement weather, head coach Matt Curtis announced today. The teams were originally scheduled to play at 3 p.m. but will now play a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 14.

April 10, 2012 Matadors Walk Off in Thrilling 4-3 Win Over CSU Bakersfield After allowing the tying run to score in the top of the ninth, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (14-18) were able to plate the winner in the bottom half to edge the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (15-16) 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference game at Matador Field. Ryan Raslowsky hit a ground ball that was misplayed by the shortstop with two outs to score Chester Pak for the walkoff win.
April 7, 2012 Matadors Take Finale at UC Santa Barbara 4-2 A three-run sixth inning gave Cal State Northridge all the offense it needed as the Matadors (13-18, 2-4 Big West) defeated the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (16-14, 4-2 Big West) 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium. The Matadors were able to rally after trailing 2-1 to take the final game of the series from the Gauchos.
April 6, 2012 Northridge Falls to UC Santa Barbara 8-4, Drops Series Kyle Attl hit a three-run home run but the Cal State Northridge Matadors (12-18, 1-4 Big West) fell 8-4 to the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (16-13, 4-1 Big West) on Friday afternoon at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium. With the loss, the Matadors will drop the season series to the Gauchos for the first time since 2008 heading into Saturday's finale.
April 5, 2012 Errors Plague Matadors in 11-1 Loss to UC Santa Barbara A windy day at the ballpark and six errors were too much to overcome for Cal State Northridge as the Matadors (12-17, 1-3 Big West) fell 11-1 to the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (15-13, 3-1 Big West) on Thursday afternoon at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium. The Gauchos scored four unearned runs in the contest and benefitted from strong winds all afternoon.

April 1, 2012 Keel Goes the Distance, Williams Homers as CSUN Upends No. 13 Cal State Fullerton Freshman left hander Jerry Keel scattered nine hits and did not allow a run after the first inning as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (12-15, 1-2 Big West) beat the No. 13 Cal State Fullerton Titans (17-10, 2-1 Big West) 5-1 on Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field. Sophomore Miles Williams hit a two-run home run to cap off a four-run rally with two outs in the third to pace the Matadors.
March 31, 2012 Northridge Rally Comes Up Short in 8-6 Loss at No. 13 Titans Trailing by at least four runs twice in the game, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (11-15, 0-2 Big West) could not complete a rally, falling 8-6 to the No. 13 Cal State Fullerton Titans (17-9, 2-0 Big West) on Saturday night at Goodwin Field. Northridge scored runs in the eighth and ninth after being down 8-4 but could not get the tying run on base at the end of the game.

March 20, 2012 Offense Powers Northridge to 12-1 Victory Over LMU A complete performance by the Matadors on both sides of the ball helped lift Cal State Northridge (10-11) to a 12-1 win against the Loyola Marymount Lions (7-10) on Tuesday afternoon at Page Stadium. Every starter in the lineup recorded at least one hit and eight different Matadors had at least one RBI as Northridge moved to 2-2 on its current road trip.
March 19, 2012 Northridge Continues Road Trip at LMU, St. Mary’s This Week The Cal State Northridge Matadors continue an 11-game road trip this week with games at Loyola Marymount University and St. Mary’s College. Northridge opens the week with one game against the Lions on Tuesday, Mar. 20 at 3 p.m. Then, on Friday, Mar. 23, the Matadors will play the first of four scheduled games against the Gaels. March 18, 2012 Matadors Fall to Portland 2-1 in Snow-Delayed Game The finale of an adjusted series between the Cal State Northridge Matadors (9-11) and the University of Portland Pilots (13-3) saw the home team pull out a 2-1 walkoff victory on Sunday afternoon at Hilken Stadium on the campus of Concordia University. A single by Michael Lucarelli with two outs scored Chet Thompson in the bottom of the ninth for the Pilots.
March 16, 2012 Matadors Split Doubleheader with Portland In a doubleheader played due to inclement forecasted weather, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (9-10) split a pair of games with the University of Portland Pilots (12-3) on Friday at Hilken Stadium on the campus of Concordia University. After losing the first game 8-1 in seven innings, the Matadors were able to score early and use pitching to secure a 3-1 win in the second game.

March 14, 2012 Northridge Drops 10-8 Decision to Rhode Island The Cal State Northridge Matadors (8-9) rallied late but fell short, losing 10-8 to the Rhode Island Rams (6-8) on Wednesday afternoon at Matador Field. The two teams combined for 11 runs over the last three innings, as five of the game's seven errors were committed during that time.
March 13, 2012 Northridge Drops Seesaw Battle 5-4 to Rhode Island Unable to mount a late rally, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (8-8) lost 5-4 to the Rhode Island Rams (5-8) on Tuesday afternoon at Matador Field. A two-out two-run single by Milan Adams in the top of the seventh proved to be the game winner for the Rams.
March 12, 2012 Matadors Face Rhode Island, Travel to Portland this Week The Cal State Northridge Matadors host the Rhode Island Rams for a two-game midweek series before traveling to the Pacific Northwest to face the Portland Pilots this weekend. The Matadors and Rams have only met once before on the diamond, a 19-0 Northridge win at the Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic at Fresno State in 1997. Northridge and Portland have not played each other since the 2008 season and the Pilots have won the last two in the series. March 10, 2012 Matadors Stop Skid, Even Series with 12-5 Win over Indiana Defense was the story as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (7-7) capitalized on seven errors by the Indiana Hoosiers (4-9) en route to a 12-5 victory on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. With the win, Northridge snapped a four-game losing streak and evened the series with Indiana heading into Sunday's finale.
March 9, 2012 Matadors Fall in Opener to Indiana 7-3 The Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-7) dropped the first game of a three-game series against the Indiana Hoosiers (4-8) 7-3 on Friday afternoon at Matador Field. Junior Adam Barry reached base in all five plate appearances on the day but the Matadors could not score after putting up three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
March 7, 2012 Matadors Host Hoosiers for Weekend Series at Matador Field The Cal State Northridge Matadors return home to Matador Field this weekend and host the Indiana Hoosiers for three games. The series will begin on Friday, Mar. 9 with the first pitch scheduled at 2 p.m. The second game will be played on Saturday, Mar. 10 at 1 p.m. and the finale is set for Sunday, Mar. 11 at 1 p.m. The series finale is also Little League Sunday at Matador Field, with all little leaguers ages 13 and under wearing their uniform receiving free admission. Following the series with the Hoosiers, the Matadors will play two games against Rhode Island on Tuesday and Wednesday Mar. 13-14.
March 4, 2012 Northridge Rally Falls Short in 12-9 Loss at SDSU The Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-6) mounted a late rally but came up short in a 12-9 loss to the San Diego State Aztecs (7-6) on Sunday evening at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Miles Williams hit a three-run home run for the Matadors with two outs in the ninth as Northridge nearly pulled off the comeback.
March 3, 2012 Matadors Suffer 13-3 Loss to San Diego at Aztec Invitational On the third day of competition at the Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State University, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-5) were defeated 13-3 by the San Diego Toreros (8-3) on Saturday at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Northridge took a 4-3 victory over San Diego at the Invitational on Thursday in the two teams' first meeting.

February 29, 2012 Matadors Travel to San Diego for Aztec Invitational This Weekend The Cal State Northridge Matadors travel to the campus of San Diego State University this weekend for the Aztec Invitational presented by Sheraton Mission Valley. Starting with Thursday afternoon game against the San Diego Toreros, the Matadors will also face the University of San Francisco Dons and the SDSU Aztecs in the event. While weather ultimately was not an issue, the game was called after seven innings due to a predetermined travel curfew for the Huskies.
February 26, 2012 Matadors Complete Sweep with 8-7 Win over Northwestern Fighting off a furious rally, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (5-2) hung on to defeat the Northwestern Wildcats (1-5) to finish a three-game sweep with an 8-7 victory on Sunday afternoon at Matador Field. Five Matadors collected more than one hit in the game as Northridge recorded 12 total.

Winter storms forced the grounding of flights out of Chicago, Ill. Thursday, delaying the travel plans of the Northwestern baseball team until Friday.

February 19, 2012 Williams' Home Run Leads to 5-3 Win Over Sacramento State Behind a three-run home run by sophomore Miles Williams, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (2-1) defeated the Sacramento State Hornets (1-2) 5-3 at John Smith Field on Sunday afternoon. The home run was the first for Northridge this season and the second of Williams’ career.
February 18, 2012 Northridge Loses Pitching Duel to Sacramento State 2-0 The Cal State Northridge Matadors (1-1) dropped a 2-0 decision to the Sacramento State Hornets (1-1) on Saturday afternoon at John Smith Field. The Hornets scored a run in the first inning on two Northridge errors that proved to be the game winner.

Northridge comes into the year with top returning talent and the infusion of skilled newcomers to give the program a number of reasons to look forward to a Big West championship run this year. September 20, 2011 Former Matador Pitcher Chuckie Fick Named to Team USA Former Cal State Northridge pitcher Chuckie Fick has been named to the Team USA 2011 World Cup/Pan Am Qualifying roster, USA Baseball announced on Thursday. The team will compete in both the IBAF Baseball World Cup in Panama City, Panama, Oct. 2-15 and Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, Oct. 20-25.

August 25, 2011 Adam Barry Named to Summer Collegiate All-American Team by Perfect Game USA Cal State Northridge Matador outfielder Adam Barry has been named to the Summer Collegiate All-American Team by Perfect Game USA, the organization announced Thursday. Barry was one of 48 national players selected to the team and one of just three players from the Big West Conference to earn the honor.
