A pair of late runs were the difference in the game as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (31-25, 15-11 Big West) were defeated by the No. 3 Cal State Fullerton Titans (47-8, 22-4 Big West) 6-4 on Friday afternoon at Matador Field. The two teams were tied going to the eighth inning before a Fullerton home run and an insurance run in the ninth sealed the game.

Needing a victory to keep pace at the top of the Big West Conference, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (31-23, 15-9 Big West) were defeated 7-2 by the No. 27 Cal Poly Mustangs (37-16, 15-9 Big West) on Sunday afternoon at Baggett Stadium. A late-inning run for the Matadors was unable to spark a rally and the Mustangs scored two runs in the eighth to seal the game.

Northridge Drops Opener at No. 27 Cal Poly 5-1
Despite recording nine hits, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (31-21, 15-7 Big West) were defeated 5-1 by the No. 27 Cal Poly Mustangs (35-16, 13-9 Big West) on Friday night at Baggett Stadium. Eight different Matadors recorded a hit and the pitching staff combined for 11 strikeouts but a big inning early spelled the difference in the game.

Matadors Travel to No. 27 Cal Poly for Crucial Big West Series
The Cal State Northridge Matadors are currently in second place in the Big West Conference with six games remaining and face another difficult test as the team travels to No. 27 Cal Poly this weekend. The Mustangs sit five games back of first but are still in striking distance as both teams look to improve their standing and prepare for potential at-large selections to the NCAA Tournament.

Chester Pak hit the first two home runs of his collegiate career and John Salas threw a complete game as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (31-20, 15-6 Big West) beat the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (27-21, 12-9 Big West) 7-1 on Mother's Day at Matador Field. With the win, the Matadors drew within two games of first-place Cal State Fullerton with six games remaining.

CSUN's Rally Not Enough in 6-2 Loss to UCSB
Three errors proved too costly for Cal State Northridge as the Matadors (30-20, 14-6 Big West) dropped the second game of its series with the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (27-20, 12-8 Big West) 6-2 on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. Northridge had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the eighth but were unable to push runs across, losing its second straight game for the first time since March 29-30 at Long Beach State.

Matadors Fall Late in 6-1 Loss to UC Santa Barbara
Despite another strong outing by Jerry Keel, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (30-19, 14-5 Big West) fell late in a 6-1 loss to the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (26-20, 11-8 Big West) on Friday afternoon at Matador Field. Keel pitched 8.0 scoreless innings and Nathan Ring launched a solo home run in the ninth but the Gauchos scored six runs in the final inning for the victory.

Race for Big West Title Heats Up This Week as CSUN Hosts UCSB
Nine games remain in the Big West Conference season. Cal State Northridge is currently on an eight-game winning streak, the team’s longest since 2002, and the Matadors have won their last nine conference games dating back to April 19. The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos visit Matador Field this weekend for three games with both side looking for an important series victory to improve their postseason resumes. Fans are encouraged to get to the field early this weekend to find parking close to the ballpark as the Big West Track and Field Championships are also being held on campus on Friday and Saturday.

After jumping out to an early lead, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (30-18) clamped down defensively to upset the No. 8 UCLA Bruins (31-14) 4-1 on Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Matadors scored three runs in the first inning and added an insurance run in the eighth to earn their first win against UCLA since 2008.

Junior first baseman Joshua Goossen-Brown drove in a career-high five runs and freshman Nicolas Osuna added two RBIs on a career-high three hits to lead the Cal State Northridge Matadors (27-18, 12-4 Big West) to a 9-3 win against the UC Davis Aggies (16-27, 3-13 Big West) on Friday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium. The Cal State Northridge Matadors will return to the Hawaiian Islands for the first time in nine seasons this week when they take on the University of Hawaii Rainbows in a three-game Big West Conference series at Les Murakami Stadium. The two programs have history with each other on the diamond as both were members of the Western Athletic Conference from 1993-96 before Northridge exited the league in 1997.

After rallying back from an early deficit to take a lead yet again, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (18-16, 4-3 Big West) eventually fell 4-3 in 11 innings to the No. 23 UC Irvine Anteaters (22-8, 4-3 Big West) on Friday night at Anteater Ballpark. Northridge erased a 2-0 deficit and led 3-2 in the 10th inning before the Anteaters scored once in the 10th and the winning run in the 11th to stop the Matadors' five-game winning streak.

Cal State Northridge won its fifth consecutive game as the Matadors (18-15) erased an early deficit to top the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (21-13) 8-5 at Hardt Field on Wednesday night. The Cal State Northridge Matadors welcome the Utah Valley University Wolverines to Matador Field for a four-game series this weekend. The Matadors and Wolverines have not previously met on the diamond. The two sides will open the series on Friday afternoon and will play a scheduled doubleheader on Saturday. The first game of the twin-billing is set to last seven inning while the second game will be a regulation nine-inning contest. The series finale will be played at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon and as part of Little League Sunday, all Little Leaguers 13 and under in uniform will receive free admission.

Matadors Defeated By CSU Bakersfield 5-3
In a game that featured a pitchers' duel throughout the afternoon, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-12) fell to the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (15-6) 5-3 on Tuesday at Matador Field. Twelve of the combined 16 hits were recorded from the sixth inning on in what turned into an offensive battle in the later portion of the game.

After a rain storm forced the postponement of a midweek series between Cal State Northridge and CSU Bakersfield on February 19 and 20, 2013, both games have now been rescheduled. CSUN Hosts CSU Bakersfield in Non-Conference Midweek Tilt
After a rainstorm forced the postponement of a scheduled midweek series between the two schools in February, the Cal State Northridge Matadors and CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners will finally begin their season series on Tuesday at Matador Field in Northridge. The Matadors are in the midst of a seven-game home stand to end their non-conference slate before Big West Conference play gets underway at the end of the month. On the heels of a season-long 10-game road trip, the Cal State Northridge Matadors finally return home to Matador Field this week. The Matadors host the No. 11 UCLA Bruins on Tuesday, March 12, in their only action of the week. The game will be the first of seven straight for CSUN at home, as the Matadors will also host CSU Bakersfield, Utah Valley University and San Diego before Big West Conference play opens at the end of the month. The Matadors are looking for their first win in the series against UCLA since the 2008 season when they took a 4-0 decision at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The Cal State Northridge Matadors conclude the 2012 regular season this weekend with a three-game series against the University of the Pacific. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Nathan Ring singled to left center to score Ryan Raslowsky and give the Cal State Northridge Matadors (22-24, 9-9 Big West) a 5-4 win over the visiting UC Irvine Anteaters (28-20, 12-9 Big West) on Mother's Day at Matador Field. The win gave Northridge its first series win over the Anteaters since the 2004 season and propelled the Matadors into fifth place in the Big West standings with six conference games to play.

Northridge Opens Final Homestand Against Surging UC Irvine
The Cal State Northridge Matadors open up the final homestand of the season with three games against the red-hot UC Irvine Anteaters this weekend at Matador Field. Due to weather conditions in the Midwest Friday's baseball game between Cal State Northridge and Northwestern has been cancelled, CSUN head coach Matt Curtis announced today. Winter storms forced the grounding of flights out of Chicago, Ill. Thursday, delaying the travel plans of the Northwestern baseball team until Friday.

Northridge Continues Homestand Against Wildcats, Huskies
The Cal State Northridge Matadors remain at home this week as they play five games in four days at Matador Field. Starting with a Friday afternoon contest against the Northwestern Wildcats, the Matadors will play a scheduled doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. The second game of the doubleheader will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first. The series against Northwestern wraps up on Sunday with first pitch at 1 p.m. Northridge will welcome the Washington Huskies for the only Monday game on the schedule at 1 p.m. Links for radio coverage and live stats for this week’s games are available at GoMatadors.com.

The Cal State Northridge Matadors (2-2) lost to the #22 UCLA Bruins (2-2) 19-7 in a non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon at Matador Field. Strong winds aided both offenses on the afternoon, resulting in the most runs produced for each team in a game this season.

Williams' Home Run Leads to 5-3 Win Over Sacramento State
Behind a three-run home run by sophomore Miles Williams, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (2-1) defeated the Sacramento State Hornets (1-2) 5-3 at John Smith Field on Sunday afternoon. The home run was the first for Northridge this season and the second of Williams’ career.

The Cal State Northridge Matadors (1-1) dropped a 2-0 decision to the Sacramento State Hornets (1-1) on Saturday afternoon at John Smith Field. The Hornets scored a run in the first inning on two Northridge errors that proved to be the game winner.

Stellar defense and timely hitting proved to be just enough as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (1-0) defeated the Sacramento State Hornets (0-1) 6-4 at John Smith Field on Friday afternoon. A two-run single by junior Brett Balkan gave the Matadors key insurance runs late to seal the victory.

Matadors Open 2012 Season with Trip to State Capital, Host #14 UCLA
Big plans are in the works for 2012 with the 54th season of Matador baseball rapidly approaching. Northridge comes into the year with top returning talent and the infusion of skilled newcomers to give the program a number of reasons to look forward to a Big West championship run this year. The Matadors return a total of 16 letterwinners and two redshirts from a year ago and add four junior transfers to the program, giving more depth and experience to a team that is looking to be a force in the Big West Conference this season.

Matadors Welcome Back Alumni for Friendly Contest
After an exhibition that was more about camaraderie than winners and losers, the 2012 Cal State Northridge Matadors exchanged handshakes and hugs with their alumni brothers at Matador Field on Saturday afternoon. The Alumni Game, now in its second edition under head coach Matt Curtis, allowed current Matadors and players of the past to reconnect on the diamond and look toward the future of the baseball program at CSUN.

The 2012 Cal State Northridge Baseball Alumni Game will take place on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. at Matador Field, head coach Matt Curtis announced Tuesday.
