May 17, 2013 Northridge Drops Opener at No. 27 Cal Poly 5-1 Despite recording nine hits, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (31-21, 15-7 Big West) were defeated 5-1 by the No. 27 Cal Poly Mustangs (35-16, 13-9 Big West) on Friday night at Baggett Stadium. Eight different Matadors recorded a hit and the pitching staff combined for 11 strikeouts but a big inning early spelled the difference in the game.
May 15, 2013 Matadors Travel to No. 27 Cal Poly for Crucial Big West Series The Cal State Northridge Matadors are currently in second place in the Big West Conference with six games remaining and face another difficult test as the team travels to No. 27 Cal Poly this weekend. The Mustangs sit five games back of first but are still in striking distance as both teams look to improve their standing and prepare for potential at-large selections to the NCAA Tournament.
May 12, 2013 Pak Homers Twice in 7-1 Mother's Day Win over UCSB Chester Pak hit the first two home runs of his collegiate career and John Salas threw a complete game as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (31-20, 15-6 Big West) beat the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (27-21, 12-9 Big West) 7-1 on Mother's Day at Matador Field. With the win, the Matadors drew within two games of first-place Cal State Fullerton with six games remaining.
May 11, 2013 CSUN's Rally Not Enough in 6-2 Loss to UCSB Three errors proved too costly for Cal State Northridge as the Matadors (30-20, 14-6 Big West) dropped the second game of its series with the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (27-20, 12-8 Big West) 6-2 on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. Northridge had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the eighth but were unable to push runs across, losing its second straight game for the first time since March 29-30 at Long Beach State.
May 10, 2013 Matadors Fall Late in 6-1 Loss to UC Santa Barbara Despite another strong outing by Jerry Keel, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (30-19, 14-5 Big West) fell late in a 6-1 loss to the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (26-20, 11-8 Big West) on Friday afternoon at Matador Field. Keel pitched 8.0 scoreless innings and Nathan Ring launched a solo home run in the ninth but the Gauchos scored six runs in the final inning for the victory.
May 9, 2013 Race for Big West Title Heats Up This Week as CSUN Hosts UCSB Nine games remain in the Big West Conference season. Cal State Northridge is currently on an eight-game winning streak, the team’s longest since 2002, and the Matadors have won their last nine conference games dating back to April 19. The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos visit Matador Field this weekend for three games with both side looking for an important series victory to improve their postseason resumes. Fans are encouraged to get to the field early this weekend to find parking close to the ballpark as the Big West Track and Field Championships are also being held on campus on Friday and Saturday.
May 7, 2013 Matadors Stun No. 8 UCLA 4-1 After jumping out to an early lead, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (30-18) clamped down defensively to upset the No. 8 UCLA Bruins (31-14) 4-1 on Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Matadors scored three runs in the first inning and added an insurance run in the eighth to earn their first win against UCLA since 2008.
May 6, 2013 CSUN Set to Battle No. 8 UCLA in Final Non-Conference Game of Season The Cal State Northridge Matadors, winners of nine of the last ten, have put together a seven-game winning streak for the first time since 2002. This week., the Matadors will head down the 405 to take on cross-town rival No. 8 UCLA on Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Northridge is also looking for a crucial non-conference win over a quality opponent as the Matadors look to build their NCAA Tournament resume heading into the final 10 games of the regular season. May 5, 2013 CSUN Completes Third Straight Big West Sweep, Beats UC Davis 10-4 Nicolas Osuna collected two RBIs and Anthony Lombardo drove in a pair of insurance runs late as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (29-18, 14-4 Big West) defeated the UC Davis Aggies (16-29, 3-15 Big West) 10-4 on Sunday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium. With the win, Northridge completed its third consecutive Big West sweep and clinched a winning season for the second time since 2002.
May 2, 2013 CSUN Baseball Announces Pair of Kids Summer Camp Sessions The Cal State Northridge baseball program will hold two camp sessions for kids this summer at Matador Field, the coaching staff announced Thursday. Open to all kids in grades 1-8, the camps will include daily skills instruction as well as competitions, swim time and other fun activities.
May 4, 2013 Matadors Clinch Series with 12-Inning Win at UC Davis Senior shortstop Kyle Attl drove in four runs, including two in the 12th inning, and freshman DJ Milam pitched two scoreless innings of relief as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (28-18, 13-4 Big West) rallied for an 8-5 win in extra innings at UC Davis (16-28, 3-14 Big West) on Saturday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium. Attl also hit a two-run home run as the Matadors clinched their first series at the home of the Aggies in school history.
May 3, 2013 Goossen-Brown Drives in Five in 9-3 Win at UC Davis Junior first baseman Joshua Goossen-Brown drove in a career-high five runs and freshman Nicolas Osuna added two RBIs on a career-high three hits to lead the Cal State Northridge Matadors (27-18, 12-4 Big West) to a 9-3 win against the UC Davis Aggies (16-27, 3-13 Big West) on Friday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium. The victory for Northridge was its first since 2009 at UC Davis and just the second at the home of the Aggies all-time.
May 2, 2013 Matadors Begin Push for Big West Crown at UC Davis This Week The Cal State Northridge Matadors, winners of seven of their last eight, travel north to UC Davis this week for a three-game Big West Conference series. The Matadors are currently second in the standings and one game back of first place as the team heads into its final month of the regular season. Northridge has won four straight and has not lost back-to-back games since March 29-30 at Long Beach State.
April 30, 2013 Rutherford Dominant in 6-4 Win at San Diego Right-handed pitcher Brycen Rutherford carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning and Cal State Northridge scored all of its runs in the fourth as the Matadors (26-18) held on for a 6-4 win at the University of San Diego (26-19) on Tuesday night at Fowler Park. Northridge produced all of its offense early and withstood a late rally by the Toreros to complete its season sweep of USD.
April 28, 2013 Matadors Rally for Walkoff Win in Extras Against Pacific Trailing by as much as 7-2, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (25-18, 11-4 Big West) rallied for an 8-7 walkoff win in 11 innings over the Pacific Tigers (10-28, 3-12 Big West) on Sunday afternoon at Matador Field. Northridge scored five runs in the eighth and the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Cal Vogelsang to complete its third sweep of a conference opponent this season.
April 27, 2013 CSUN Outduels Pacific 5-2, Clinches Series Freshman pitcher Calvin Copping went 8.0 strong innings on the mound and Alexis Mercado drove in a pair of runs as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (24-18, 10-4 Big West) defeated the Pacific Tigers (10-27, 3-11 Big West) 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. With the win, CSUN clinched the series against Pacific for the first time since 2009 and earned its 24th victory for the first time since 2010.
April 26, 2013 Vogelsang's Return Triumphant in 6-1 Win over Pacific Cal Vogelsang, playing in his first game since March 1st, went 3-for-4 with three RBIs as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (23-18, 9-4 Big West) defeated the Pacific Tigers (10-26, 3-10 Big West) in a Big West Conference game on Friday afternoon at Matador Field. Jerry Keel pitched his second complete game in as many outings for the Matadors to pick up his sixth win of the season.
April 25, 2013 Matadors Welcome Pacific For Final Time in Big West Play The Cal State Northridge Matadors, coming off of a three-game sweep at Hawai’i last weekend, will look to continue their success against Big West opponents this week when they host the University of the Pacific Tigers at Matador Field. Northridge is currently second place in the Big West and looking to create separation in the standings as the conference slate reaches its halfway point.
April 23, 2013 Matadors Drop Midweek Game 5-0 at LMU Loyola Marymount University's Matt Florer threw the first LMU no-hitter since 1980 as the Lions (21-19) defeated the Cal State Northridge Matadors (22-18) 5-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Page Stadium. The Matadors drew five walks in the game but were unable to advance a runner past second base against the senior left-hander.
April 22, 2013 Red-Hot Matadors Visit Loyola Marymount for Midweek Test The Cal State Northridge Matadors will wrap up their current eight-game road trip this week when the team visits the Loyola Marymount University Lions on Tuesday afternoon at Page Stadium in Los Angeles. LMU took the first game in the season series with an extra-inning victory at Matador Field on April 2.
April 21, 2013 Matadors Beat Hawai’i 10-5; Complete First Big West Road Sweep Since 2004 Five runs in the final two innings broke open a tight contest at Les Murakami Stadium, as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (22-17, 8-4 Big West) defeated the University of Hawai’i Rainbows (8-27, 3-9 Big West) 10-5 on Sunday afternoon. Two runs scored on an error in the eighth and Joshua Goossen-Brown capped off the day with his first home run of the season, a three-run blast, in the top of the ninth for CSUN.
April 20, 2013 CSUN Clinches Series with 9-4 Win at Hawai'i Alexis Mercado drove in two runs, Joshua Goossen-Brown went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and the Cal State Northridge Matadors (21-17, 7-4 Big West) topped the University of Hawai'i Rainbows (8-26, 3-8 BWC) 9-4 on Saturday night at Les Murakami Stadium. Seven different Matadors scored a run as CSUN's win moved the team into a tie for second place in the Big West Conference standings.
April 19, 2013 Keel Shines in CSUN's 4-1 Win at Hawai'i Sophomore pitcher Jerry Keel did not allow an earned run and struck out five hitters en route to a complete game victory as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (20-17, 6-4 Big West) defeated the University of Hawai'i Rainbows (8-25, 3-7 Big West) 4-1 on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium. Catcher Alexis Mercado went 3-for-5 at the plate and freshman Nicolas Osuna drove in a pair of runs to lead CSUN to its third series-opening win in conference play.
April 17, 2013 Matadors Travel to Hawai’i for First Big West Series Against Rainbows The Cal State Northridge Matadors will return to the Hawaiian Islands for the first time in nine seasons this week when they take on the University of Hawaii Rainbows in a three-game Big West Conference series at Les Murakami Stadium. The two programs have history with each other on the diamond as both were members of the Western Athletic Conference from 1993-96 before Northridge exited the league in 1997.
April 14, 2013 Matadors Fall 2-0 in Finale at No. 23 UC Irvine Despite a complete-game effort on the mound by John Salas, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (19-17, 5-4 Big West) fell 2-0 against the No. 23 UC Irvine Anteaters (23-9, 5-4 Big West) on Sunday afternoon at Anteater Ballpark. Salas limited the Anteaters to just four hits in the game but the Matadors stranded nine runners on base on the day.
April 13, 2013 Freshmen Power Matadors to 2-1 Upset at No. 23 UC Irvine Behind 7.2 strong innings on the mound by freshman Calvin Copping, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (19-16, 5-3 Big West) earned a 2-1 upset over the No. 23 UC Irvine Anteaters (22-9, 4-4 Big West) on Saturday afternoon at Anteater Ballpark. Freshman Michael Najera went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple as the Matadors ended UCI's six-game win streak and picked up their first victory in Irvine since 2005.
April 12, 2013 CSUN's Streak Halted after 11-Inning Loss at No. 23 UC Irvine After rallying back from an early deficit to take a lead yet again, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (18-16, 4-3 Big West) eventually fell 4-3 in 11 innings to the No. 23 UC Irvine Anteaters (22-8, 4-3 Big West) on Friday night at Anteater Ballpark. Northridge erased a 2-0 deficit and led 3-2 in the 10th inning before the Anteaters scored once in the 10th and the winning run in the 11th to stop the Matadors' five-game winning streak.
April 10, 2013 CSUN Captures Fifth Straight Win, Tops CSU Bakersfield 8-5 Cal State Northridge won its fifth consecutive game as the Matadors (18-15) erased an early deficit to top the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (21-13) 8-5 at Hardt Field on Wednesday night. After trailing 2-0, Northridge rattled off eight straight runs against CSUB and the pitching staff did not concede a hit between the third and ninth innings to help the team to victory.
April 9, 2013 CSUN Seeks Fifth Straight, Travels to CSU Bakersfield and No. 23 UC Irvine The Cal State Northridge Matadors, winners of their last four games, look to continue their run of success as they start a streak of playing their next eight games on the road. The Matadors will first head to CSU Bakersfield for a Wednesday night game at Hardt Field before returning to Big West Conference play at No. 23 UC Irvine this weekend. Cal State Northridge is currently tied for second in the conference at 4-2 with Cal Poly and looks to separate from the rest of the pack by taking a road series at Anteater Ballpark.
April 8, 2013 CSUN Walks Off in 8-7 Comeback Win over Washington Cal State Northridge trailed by as many as six runs but Chester Pak delivered a walk-off single to right center as the Matadors (17-15) rallied for an 8-7 win over the Washington Huskies (8-22) on Monday afternoon at Matador Field. On a day dominated by severe winds in the San Fernando Valley, the Matadors came away with the big hits late to win their fourth straight game.
April 8, 2013 Goossen-Brown Named Big West Player of the Week After averaging two hits per game and driving in seven runs last week, Cal State Northridge first baseman Joshua Goossen-Brown was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. In addition to his prowess on offense, Goossen-Brown also helped the Matadors on the pitching side as CSUN went 4-1 and swept UC Riverside in a key Big West series.
April 7, 2013 CSUN Erupts for 15 Runs to Complete Sweep of UC Riverside After the two teams combined for 12 total runs through the first two games of the series, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (16-15, 4-2 Big West) eclipsed the mark on their own with a 15-3 victory over the UC Riverside Highlanders (14-13, 3-3 Big West) on Sunday afternoon at Matador Field. Every CSUN starter recorded at least one hit and one RBI as the Matadors swept a Big West Conference opponent for the first time since 2010.
April 6, 2013 Matadors Back At .500 after 3-1 Win over UC Riverside Freshman Michael Najera picked up his first hit of the season, an RBI single, and the Cal State Northridge Matadors (15-15, 3-2 Big West) used a pair of late runs to outlast the UC Riverside Highlanders (14-12, 3-2 Big West) on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. Joshua Goossen-Brown had his third consecutive multi-hit game as the Matadors won their first Big West Conference series of the year.

A trio of Matadors had three hits in the game as well as Northridge won its Big West home opener for the third consecutive season.
April 4, 2013 Matadors Take On UC Riverside, Washington at Home This Week The Cal State Northridge Matadors continue the current homestand this week by hosting conference-rival UC Riverside in a three-game series before welcoming the University of Washington on Monday. After going 1-2 at Long Beach State last weekend to open Big West play, the Matadors will look to climb a few games in the standings this week against undefeated UCR. Following the series, Northridge will take on the Huskies for a single game before hitting the road for the team’s next eight contests.
April 2, 2013 Matadors Suffer 9-7 Loss in 10 Innings to LMU In a game that featured 34 different players participating, including 15 pitchers, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (13-15) fell in heartbreaking fashion 9-7 in 10 innings to the visiting Loyola Marymount University Lions (14-14) on Tuesday afternoon at Matador Field. The Lions scored the game's final four runs, including the tying run with two outs in the ninth, to eke out a victory.
April 1, 2013 Clutch Hitting Delivers 2-1 Win Over CSU Bakersfield The Cal State Northridge Matadors (13-14), after getting just one hit through the first seven innings of play, strung quality at-bats together to overcome a deficit and rally for a 2-1 win over the visiting CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (19-10) on Monday afternoon at Matador Field. Joshua Goossen-Brown hit a two-run double down the left field line in the bottom of the eighth to score the only runs for CSUN on just the third hit for the Matadors.
March 30, 2013 Matadors Come Up Short in Finale at Long Beach State After falling behind early, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (12-14, 1-2 Big West) chipped away at the deficit but eventually fell 7-5 at the Long Beach State Dirtbags (11-16, 2-1 Big West) on Saturday afternoon at Blair Field. The Matadors got three hits from Kyle Attl and two RBIs by Joshua Goossen-Brown but the team’s four runs over the final three innings were not enough to win the series.
March 29, 2013 Matadors Drop Second Game of Series at Long Beach State After winning the series opener on Thursday night, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (12-13, 1-1 Big West) were defeated by the Long Beach State Dirtbags (10-16, 1-1 Big West) 14-2 on Friday night at Blair Field. The Matadors fell behind early and could not get the needed runs to extend their season-high win streak to seven games.
March 28, 2013 CSUN Wins Big West Conference Opener at Long Beach State 10-5 With a 10-5 win at Long Beach State on Thursday night at Blair Field, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (12-12, 1-0 Big West) earned their sixth consecutive victory and improved to 1-0 in conference play for the first time since 2002. Michael Livingston went 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and three runs scored to help the Matadors power past the Dirtbags (9-16, 0-1 Big West).
March 27, 2013 Matadors Travel to Long Beach State to Open Big West Play The Cal State Northridge Matadors will open up the 2013 Big West Conference season against the Long Beach State Dirtbags this week. It will be the third consecutive season that the Matadors start conference play away from Matador Field. Long Beach was picked to finish third in the Big West in the preseason coaches poll and looks to stop a four-game slide after losses to San Diego State and Cal State Fullerton in the last two weeks.
March 26, 2013 CSUN Extends Streak to Five with 8-4 Win over San Diego Behind a career-high five hits for Nathan Ring, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (11-12) upended the University of San Diego Toreros (16-9) 8-4 on Tuesday afternoon at Matador Field. Right-handed pitcher Brandon Warner did not allow a base runner until the fifth inning as the Matadors won their fifth consecutive game for the first time since 2010.
March 25, 2013 CSUN Hosts San Diego in Final Game Before Start of Conference Play The Cal State Northridge Matadors will play their final non-conference game before the Big West season gets started as the team hosts the University of San Diego Toreros on Tuesday afternoon. The Matadors are looking to build on their current four-game winning streak and will take on a USD team that participated in the NCAA Tournament a year ago. Last season, the Matadors and Toreros split a pair of games during the SDSU Aztec Invitational in early March.
March 25, 2013 Ferramola Nabs Big West Player of the Week Honor After being inserted into the lineup as a hitter for the first time this season, Cal State Northridge sophomore pitcher/designated hitter Kyle Ferramola was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. In five games this week, Ferramola went 4-for-9 at the plate with a triple, two home runs, four RBIs, helping the Matadors go 4-1 with a four-game sweep over Utah Valley University.
March 24, 2013 Salas Tosses Gem as CSUN Completes Four-Game Sweep of Utah Valley With a 3-1 victory over the Utah Valley University Wolverines (9-16) on Sunday afternoon at Matador Field, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (10-12) swept an opponent in a four-game series for the first time since 2010 at Seattle University. Junior left-handed pitcher John Salas pitched 8.0 scoreless innings and struck out five batters to earn his first win of the season.
March 23, 2013 Matadors Sweep Doubleheader from Utah Valley, Clinch Series Coming into the day, Cal State Northridge had yet to win a game decided by one run this season. On Saturday, the Matadors (9-12) accomplished the feat twice, sweeping a doubleheader from the Utah Valley University Wolverines (9-15) by scores of 4-3 and 5-4 at Matador Field.
March 22, 2013 Complete Performance Powers CSUN Past Utah Valley 8-2 After suffering three consecutive defeats, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (7-12) rebounded with an all-around productive afternoon in an 8-2 win over the Utah Valley University Wolverines (9-13) on Friday at Matador Field. Kyle Ferramola went 2-for-3 in his first start, Nathan Ring added three hits and Miles Williams drove in three runs for the Matadors.
March 21, 2013 CSUN Meets Utah Valley University for First Time in Program History The Cal State Northridge Matadors welcome the Utah Valley University Wolverines to Matador Field for a four-game series this weekend. The Matadors and Wolverines have not previously met on the diamond. The two sides will open the series on Friday afternoon and will play a scheduled doubleheader on Saturday. The first game of the twin-billing is set to last seven inning while the second game will be a regulation nine-inning contest. The series finale will be played at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon and as part of Little League Sunday, all Little Leaguers 13 and under in uniform will receive free admission.
March 19, 2013 Matadors Defeated By CSU Bakersfield 5-3 In a game that featured a pitchers' duel throughout the afternoon, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-12) fell to the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (15-6) 5-3 on Tuesday at Matador Field. Twelve of the combined 16 hits were recorded from the sixth inning on in what turned into an offensive battle in the later portion of the game.
March 18, 2013 Previously Postponed Game vs. CSU Bakersfield Rescheduled for April 1 After a rain storm forced the postponement of a midweek series between Cal State Northridge and CSU Bakersfield on February 19 and 20, 2013, both games have now been rescheduled. The game originally slated for February 20th will now be played at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 1, at Matador Field in Northridge.
March 18, 2013 CSUN Hosts CSU Bakersfield in Non-Conference Midweek Tilt After a rainstorm forced the postponement of a scheduled midweek series between the two schools in February, the Cal State Northridge Matadors and CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners will finally begin their season series on Tuesday at Matador Field in Northridge. March 11, 2013 CSUN Welcomes No. 11 UCLA to Matador Field in Lone Game This Week On the heels of a season-long 10-game road trip, the Cal State Northridge Matadors finally return home to Matador Field this week. The Matadors host the No. 11 UCLA Bruins on Tuesday, March 12, in their only action of the week. The game will be the first of seven straight for CSUN at home, as the Matadors will also host CSU Bakersfield, Utah Valley University and San Diego before Big West Conference play opens at the end of the month. The Matadors are looking for their first win in the series against UCLA since the 2008 season when they took a 4-0 decision at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

March 9, 2013 Four-Run Eighth Leads CSUN to 5-3 Win at Sacramento State Trailing by two runs in the top of the eighth inning, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (6-9) rattled off five straight hits and eventually scored four times to defeat the Sacramento State Hornets (8-6) 5-3 on Saturday afternoon at John Smith Field. After losing the opener on Friday, CSUN rebounded with five runs on 10 hits and zero errors to even the series heading into Sunday's finale.
March 8, 2013 Matadors Lose 4-3 at Sacramento State The Cal State Northridge Matadors (5-9) lost the opening game of a three-game series 4-3 at the Sacramento State Hornets (8-5) on Friday afternoon at John Smith Field. March 7, 2013 CSUN Completes Road Trip with Three Games At Sacramento State The Cal State Northridge Matadors will conclude their season-long 10-game road trip this week with a three-game weekend series at Sacramento State. Northridge opened the 2012 season at Sacramento State, taking two of the three games at John Smith Field. March 1, 2013 Matadors Defeated By Washington State 8-2 Despite a career day at the plate by sophomore Ryan Raslowsky, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (4-5) were beaten by the Washington State Cougars (7-2) 8-2 on Friday night at Bailey-Brayton Field. Raslowsky, batting ninth in the order, went three-for-four with a pair of RBI singles to match his best output for hits and runs batted in in a game.
March 1, 2013 Matadors Meet with Prominent Alumnus, NCAA Champion Irv Zakheim Ahead of their four-game series at Washington State this weekend, the Cal State Northridge baseball team met with prominent alumnus Irv Zakheim and toured the home of his international business, Zak Designs, in Spokane, Wash., on Thursday, Feb. 28. Zakheim, a member of the 1970 NCAA Division II National Championship baseball team at CSUN (then San Fernando Valley State College), met with the team and offered his insight into baseball, business and personal development.

February 27, 2013 Cal State Northridge Embarks on Road Trip to Pacific Northwest The Cal State Northridge Matadors continue their season-long 10-game road trip this week with six games against teams from the Pac-12 Conference. Northridge will first head to Pullman, Wash. for a four-game series at Washington State. Saint Mary’s The Cal State Northridge Matadors open up their 54th season of competition when they host the Saint Mary’s Gaels in a four-game series this weekend. June 6, 2012 Keel Selected to 2012 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team Cal State Northridge freshman Jerry Keel was selected as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball, the newspaper reported Wednesday. Keel, a left-handed pitcher, was one of 31 pitchers to make the Freshmen All-American Team and was also tabbed as the Big West Conference Freshman Pitcher of the Year in late May.

With the victory, the Matadors reached 10 conference wins for the first time since 2002.

May 13, 2012 Ring's Walkoff Single Gives Matadors First Series Over UC Irvine Since 2004 With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Nathan Ring singled to left center to score Ryan Raslowsky and give the Cal State Northridge Matadors (22-24, 9-9 Big West) a 5-4 win over the visiting UC Irvine Anteaters (28-20, 12-9 Big West) on Mother's Day at Matador Field. The win gave Northridge its first series win over the Anteaters since the 2004 season and propelled the Matadors into fifth place in the Big West standings with six conference games to play.

April 28, 2012 Matadors Rally Twice, Defeat LBSU 6-5 in 12 Innings Twice trailing by a run in their final at-bats, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (18-21, 5-6 Big West) were able to keep the game going, eventually scoring the winning run in the 12th inning to knock off the Long Beach State Dirtbags (20-20, 10-4 Big West) 6-5 on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. February 19, 2012 Williams' Home Run Leads to 5-3 Win Over Sacramento State Behind a three-run home run by sophomore Miles Williams, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (2-1) defeated the Sacramento State Hornets (1-2) 5-3 at John Smith Field on Sunday afternoon. The home run was the first for Northridge this season and the second of Williams’ career.
February 18, 2012 Northridge Loses Pitching Duel to Sacramento State 2-0 The Cal State Northridge Matadors (1-1) dropped a 2-0 decision to the Sacramento State Hornets (1-1) on Saturday afternoon at John Smith Field. The Hornets scored a run in the first inning on two Northridge errors that proved to be the game winner.
February 17, 2012 Matadors Edge Hornets on Opening Day 6-4 Stellar defense and timely hitting proved to be just enough as the Cal State Northridge Matadors (1-0) defeated the Sacramento State Hornets (0-1) 6-4 at John Smith Field on Friday afternoon. A two-run single by junior Brett Balkan gave the Matadors key insurance runs late to seal the victory.
February 17, 2012 Matadors Open 2012 Season with Trip to State Capital, Host #14 UCLA Big plans are in the works for 2012 with the 54th season of Matador baseball rapidly approaching. Northridge comes into the year with top returning talent and the infusion of skilled newcomers to give the program a number of reasons to look forward to a Big West championship run this year. The Matadors return a total of 16 letterwinners and two redshirts from a year ago and add four junior transfers to the program, giving more depth and experience to a team that is looking to be a force in the Big West Conference this season.
February 4, 2012 Matadors Welcome Back Alumni for Friendly Contest After an exhibition that was more about camaraderie than winners and losers, the 2012 Cal State Northridge Matadors exchanged handshakes and hugs with their alumni brothers at Matador Field on Saturday afternoon. The Alumni Game, now in its second edition under head coach Matt Curtis, allowed current Matadors and players of the past to reconnect on the diamond and look toward the future of the baseball program at CSUN.
February 4, 2012 Matadors to Host Alumni Game on February 4 The 2012 Cal State Northridge Baseball Alumni Game will take place on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. at Matador Field, head coach Matt Curtis announced Tuesday. The annual event will give family, friends and fans the chance to enjoy a day at the ballpark watching a scrimmage between the current Matador players and their alumni counterparts.
December 1, 2011 Matadors to Host Pair of Winter Baseball Camps The Cal State Northridge Matadors will host a pair of winter baseball camps at Matador Field before the spring season gets underway, head coach Matt Curtis announced Wednesday. The Junior Matador Camp is tailored to players in grades 1-8, while the High School Showcase Camp is limited to players currently in grades 9-12.
November 18, 2011 Matadors Ink Seven Recruits to 2012 Early Signing Class The Cal State Northridge baseball program has signed seven players to national letters of intent for the 2012 early signing period, head coach Matt Curtis announced today. The recruiting class consists of four high school players and three junior college transfers.

The Matadors will play 55 games in the regular season, including 26 at home.
September 30, 2011 Matador Baseball Program to Host Fall Training Camp The Cal State Northridge baseball program will host a training camp this fall at Matador Baseball Field for all players in grades 6-8, head coach Matt Curtis announced Friday. The camp, which runs from October 23rd to November 20th, will be broken down into two sessions each week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, for five weeks.

The team will compete in both the IBAF Baseball World Cup in Panama City, Panama, Oct. 2-15 and Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, Oct. 20-25.
September 14, 2011 Dennis Machado Named CSUN Pitching Coach Dennis Machado has been hired as an assistant coach for the baseball team, head coach Matt Curtis announced Wednesday. Machado will primarily serve as the team’s pitching coach beginning immediately.
August 25, 2011 Adam Barry Named to Summer Collegiate All-American Team by Perfect Game USA Cal State Northridge Matador outfielder Adam Barry has been named to the Summer Collegiate All-American Team by Perfect Game USA, the organization announced Thursday. Barry was one of 48 national players selected to the team and one of just three players from the Big West Conference to earn the honor.
