May 12, 2012 Matador Men Finish Third, Women Fourth at 2012 Big West Track & Field Championships Kemar Marsden and the Cal State Northridge men made a day two charge but finished in third-place while the Matador women saw their six-year run as conference champions end Saturday at the 2012 Big West Track & Field Championships at Anteater Stadium.
May 12, 2012 Matadors Squeeze By UC Irvine, Even Series with 6-3 Win Two perfectly executed squeeze bunts at critical points in the game helped the Cal State Northridge Matadors (21-24, 8-9 Big West) defeat the UC Irvine Anteaters (28-19, 12-8 Big West) 6-3 to even their three-game series on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. Nathan Ring added a two-run double in the fifth inning that proved to be the game-winning hit as the Matadors defeated the Anteaters for the first time since the 2008 season.
May 12, 2012 CSUN Falls 4-1 to UCSB on Senior Day The Cal State Northridge softball team (10-42, 5-16 Big West) lost 4-1 to UC Santa Barbara in its season finale Saturday at Matador Diamond. Mikayla Thielges had an RBI single and Mia Pagano had six strikeouts, but the errors undid the Matadors' efforts on senior day.

In the decathlon, the Matador men finished fifth, sixth and ninth.

April 29, 2012 Matadors Drop Series Finale to Long Beach State 12-3 After tying the game in the bottom of the first inning, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (18-22, 5-7 Big West) had trouble keeping the Long Beach State Dirtbags (21-20, 11-4 Big West) off of the board in a 12-3 loss on Sunday afternoon at Matador Field. Four different Matadors had two hits in the game as the team recorded 10, but the Dirtbags used a five-run fifth inning to break the game open.
April 26, 2012 Matador Women’s Basketball Enjoys Banner Year in 2011-12 Season Flowers guided the Matadors to an impressive and historic campaign in the 2011-12 season. The Matadors finished 17-14 overall, compiling the best turnaround in the nation, and posted an 11-5, second-place finish in the Big West Conference. The success culminated in an invitation to the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT), just the second time in the school’s Division-I history that the Matadors participated in the postseason.

April 28, 2012 Matadors Rally Twice, Defeat LBSU 6-5 in 12 Innings Twice trailing by a run in their final at-bats, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (18-21, 5-6 Big West) were able to keep the game going, eventually scoring the winning run in the 12th inning to knock off the Long Beach State Dirtbags (20-20, 10-4 Big West) 6-5 on Saturday afternoon at Matador Field. The Matadors scored a run in the ninth and two in the 12th to even the series with the Dirtbags heading into Sunday's finale.

The Matadors have a chance to shake up the conference standings as Long Beach State sits in a tie for first with the Cal State Fullerton Titans, who have a bye week. After the weekend series against the 49ers, the Matadors will have four series remaining, all against teams that are currently behind them in the standings. March 5, 2012 CSUN Women's Hoops Collects Multiple All-Big West Honors The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team collected multiple 2011-12 All-Big West awards as voted upon by the league’s coaches, the conference office announced Monday. CSUN collected three individual awards as Janae Sharpe was named Freshman of the Year. Violet Alama was named Co-Sixth Woman of the Year and Jason Flowers was named Coach of the Year. Senior Jasmine Erving earned All-Big West First Team honors, Sharpe was named to the Second Team and Ashlee Guay and Alama received Honorable mention accolades.

November 16, 2011 2011 Men's Soccer Year in Review Another season has come and gone for the Matadors men's soccer team. After a 2010 season that ended with a 3-14-2 record, Northridge was able to turn things around this season as it went 8-8-3 and finished fifth in the Big West Conference at 4-4-2. The Matadors fell a point shy of reaching the postseason in 2011, but had a much-improved offensive attack and defensive scheme. A total of seven players were named to All-Conference teams, tied for the second most in the Big West.

October 22, 2011 Late Heroics Lead Matadors to Upset Victory over No. 7 UCLA With two goals in the final eight minutes of regulation, the Cal State Northridge Matadors (7-7-1, 3-3-0 Big West) rallied for a come-from-behind win over the No. 7 UCLA Bruins (10-4-1, 5-0-0 Pac-12) 3-2 on Saturday night at Drake Stadium in Westwood, Calif. The victory was the first in history for the Matadors at UCLA as they moved to 2-13-3 against the Bruins all-time. The only other victory came in a 3-0 shutout at Matador Soccer Field on Sept. 29, 2009.
October 22, 2011 Matadors Hang On to Top UC Riverside in Five Sets 25-20, 25-18, 22-25, 24-26, 15-8 Mahina Haina and Casey Hinger combined for 28 kills as Cal State Northridge won the first two sets then had to hold off the late charge of UC Riverside as the Matadors won in five sets (25-20, 25-18, 22-25, 24-26, 15-8) Saturday night at The Matadome.
October 21, 2011 Former Matador Nick Delio Advances to Second Round of PGA Q-School Former Cal State Northridge All-American Nick Delio posted a final round 70 to finish the First Stage of PGA Q-School in a tie for 18th-place which advanced him to the Second Qualifying Stage in mid-November.
October 21, 2011 Matadors Past and Present to Represent United States in Pan American Games Former Cal State Northridge All-Americans Cody Loe and Eric Vance and current Matador Matt Stork will be among 11 players playing for the United States men's volleyball team in the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
October 20, 2011 Matadors Post 1-0 Road Victory over Titans The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team (6-7-2, 4-1-1 Big West) defeated Cal State Fullerton 1-0 Thursday evening in a Big West Conference match at Titan Stadium. Senior Heidi Farran scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season and the Matadors got some outstanding defense as they won their fourth-straight over the Titans.
